The Story of a Photographer

If I could have been born with a camera in my hand I would have, it's in my genes. I come from a long line of passionate photographers. I always remember the story of my Oma in the 60's leaving a child stuck on the gate, to run inside and grab her camera to capture the moment. I grew up in a house where the bathroom was converted into a light room and on weekends we'd spend our time developing film. I'll never forget the smell of those developing chemicals or the sight of the photos stuck up on the shower screen to dry, or the joy of seeing the photo appear as you pop it in the chemicals.

I get an incredible amount of joy taking photos. Every time someone books a session with me I feel so blessed. I love capturing the everyday moments, those special looks, the placement of a little persons hand in yours, the way your little one crawls with their bottom up in the air, their favourite toy places upon their bed, the rows of never ending washing and dishes, the way they fit perfectly on your lap. Because we forget these things, they grow big fast, they change and morph, create new habits and one day you notice that aren't doing that cute thing any more and you can't remember when they stopped. I love to freeze time, create images that trigger those memories.

“Anyone who has had a newborn baby knows just how unpredictable they can be. Kim has such a calm manner about her and she showed endless patience with our little girl Hazel and made us feel really relaxed, which shines through in the photos that she took. We absolutely love the beautiful and real moments that she was able to capture for us. We are forever grateful.”
